Epson achieves EcoVadis Platinum status
Sustainability is about more than C02. Epson has been ranked in the top 1% of companies internationally for their sustainability in areas from Ethics and Human Rights, to Environmental and Sustainable Procurement, a further improvement from their previous Gold Award.
To drive global supply chain sustainability, over 75,000 large multinational corporations have already partnered with EcoVadis, leveraging the influence of their spending power as a "force for good" to push trading partners beyond mere compliance, to constantly improve their sustainability.
The rated company can see how their score compares to the benchmark in their industry. The criteria for scorecards published from 1 January 2022 are as follows:
- Platinum - top 1%
- Gold - top 5%
- Silver - top 25%
- Bronze - top 50%
- Unrated - companies whose score is below 47% do not receive an EcoVadis award.
Combining the scorecard results with improvement areas results in a "race to the top," in which whole industries compete to achieve global best practice.
The purchasing companies and organizations can easily integrate EcoVadis Scorecards into their day-to-day business practices (such as vendor registration, compliance, sourcing, supplier performance, and relationship management), driving their organization to make more sustainable procurement decisions, while positively incentivizing their trading partners to align with their sustainability goals and practices.
Epson Sustainability Up and Down the Supply Chain
XBM partnered with Epson to help our customers, businesses, public sector organisations, charities and not-for-profits across the UK, improve their own sustainability, reducing energy consumption, reducing waste from consumables, such as ink and toner cartridges, and reducing the waste from other replaceable components. Companies benefit from Epson's Heat-Free business inkjet technology, using up to 53% less energy than a comparable laser printer, and producing up to 96% less waste.
Epson's excellent credentials impact not only their suppliers and partners, such as XBM, but all the way to the end users who improve their sustainability and reduce their costs. In addition to the cost and energy savings inherent in the devices themselves, Epson's ink cartridge recycling program is included with every Epson single or multifunction device supplied by XBM, who have have been awarded Epson's own Platinum Partner Status for our expertise and service.
XBM has also partnered with Ecologi to help mitigate the C02 we use delivering and installing devices at our customers by planting trees and supporting environmental and social projects around thre world, from Indonesia, to Uganda, to Mexico. Ecologi's project has so far planted over 46.1 million trees and reduced or mitigated over 2.1 million tonnes of CO2.
But Epson isn't Resting on their Laurels.
"EcoVadis Platinum status is an important and significant milestone for Epson. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Epson and this award is just as valuable to our business, our partners and customers, as is our financial success.
For three successive years, our Gold EcoVadis rating has allowed our customers to purchase with confidence from Epson, secure in the knowledge that not only is our heat free technology assisting them towards their own sustainability goals, but that we adhere to the very highest labour, human rights and social standards.
Our Platinum EcoVadis rating now places us in the top one per cent in CSR for companies in our industry globally. We wholly recognise that there is always more to be done, but this is an achievement which reflects the great strides we have made in the last year to achieve the highest possible international CSR standards.
We will continue to examine every aspect of our business and to deliver even further improvements in our sustainability performance."
